Traveling to Altmuenster

Airtravel

The nearest airports to the conference venue are Vienna (VIE, https://www.viennaairport.com), Linz (LNZ, https://www.linz-airport.com/en) and Salzburg (SZG, https://www.salzburg-airport.com).

Of course, you can also book through your IATA travel agency. The travel agency can request the ticketing instructions by sending an email to lufthansa.mobility@dlh.de, stating the event code ATAPPKD.

Train

At any time, seat reservations are recommended, especially when travelling during peak travel days.

 

The easiest way to reach Altmuenster train station (Altmünster/Traunsee Bahnhof) is via Linz Central Station (Linz Hauptbahnhof). From there, several trains can be taken, e.g.:

  • 08:30h: Railjet 542 with destination Salzburg Hbf, change at Attnang-Puchheim Bahnhof, Regional Train 3414 with destination Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof (arrival at 09:29h)

  • 09:30h: Railjet 544 with destination Salzburg Hbf, change at Attnang-Puchheim Bahnhof, Regional Train 3414 with destination Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof (arrival at 10:29h)

  • 10:04h: Intercity 1018 with destination Stainach-Irdning Bahnhof (arrival at 10:57h)

  • 10:30h: Railjet 546 with destination Salzburg Hbf, change at Attnang-Puchheim Bahnhof, Regional Train 3414 with destination Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof (arrival at 11:29h)

From Altmuenster train station, the conference venue is about 2.1km away (~20 minute foot walk).

Bus

We are also planning on organizing a bus from Vienna and Linz directly to the conference venue, if interest is high enough, with prizes ~60-70€/person (depending on number of passengers). We are carrying out a survey on this during registration and will announce this after end of regular conference registration (end of May 2024).

Traveling in Altmuenster

Shuttle service

A public mobility service that supports the existing transport services in the Salzkammergut. Leave your car at home and travel easily to and through the region. With the shuttle you can reach places and hiking starting points that are not accessible by bus or train - for guests as well as for locals. So you can be on the move in the Salzkammergut without a care in the world.

Stay in Altmuenster

The conference venue itself provides limited possibility of accommodation in 2- and 4-bed rooms from July 9 – 12, 2024. The prize for those is €19.44/night/person. If you are interested in booking an accommodation there, we will carry out a survey during registration on a first come first serve basis. Please be aware that we generally cannot guarantee a specific allocation of visitors into rooms, but follow a separation between female and male room allocations if not otherwise wished. We will inform about availability during registration and lptmm-website.

 

If you want to arrive earlier, stay longer and/or prefer staying in a hotel or apartment, the following promised limited availability during the conference date in and near Altmuenster:

 

 

Due to the limited availability and high demand during summer time, it is recommended to find a hotel as soon as possible.

Weather

July is a desirable time to visit Altmuenster. During the day, temperatures may rise up to 31°C (88° F). At night the lows drop to a comfortable 7-13°C (45-55° F). However, with an average of 19 precipitation days in July, storms may occur in the evening with sudden and heavy showers, but they often last for a short time only.

Currency

Austrian’s official currency is Euro (EUR).

Electricity

Austria operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz, using 2-pin Schuko sockets and plugs (types C and F). Visitors from the USA, for example, typically need a combined adapter and converter.
